The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has officially handed over the newly upgraded Belmont Observatory, marking a significant milestone in the country's ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness, scientific monitoring, and national resilience.
The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) officially took possession of its newly retrofitted and expanded warehouse facility located in the Campden Park Industrial area earlier today Wednesday 7th January, following a handing over ceremony held at the facility January 8, 2026.
The Ministry of Agriculture’s (MOA) Forestry Division, through the World Bank funded - Volcano Eruption Emergency Project (VEEP) received a brand new all terrain vehicle (ATV) for the purpose of supporting the general volcanic cleanup in affected areas (namely mountainous areas) on Wednesday 25 September 2024.
Twenty-seven officers from the Forestry Department and the Volcanic Eruption Emergency Project (VEEP) successfully completed Wilderness and Remote First Aid Certification training as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness and field response capacity in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
